Dr. Neil McKinney has been practicing since 1985. He has extensive experience in Naturopathic Oncology as well as Naturopathic Medicine for a variety of health concerns and ailments. Graduating with a degree in Biosciences from Simon Fraser University, B.C., Dr. McKinney has done extensive work in biophysical (radiation) cancer research. He studied kinesiology at the University of Waterloo and graduated as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1985. Furthermore, he also trained for 3 years in TCM at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Dr. McKinney has had many teaching roles that have included being a microbiology lab instructor at UVIC and NCNM; he has also taught at schools of Traditional Chinese Medicine, massage therapy, and he is also a professor at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, British Columbia. As well, Dr. McKinney has served many roles in the regulation and advancement of the profession, which have included being a Registrar at the BC College of Naturopathic Physicians, and also taking on a role as an accreditation evaluator for the CNME. Dr. McKinney also founded the BC Naturopathic Association, www.bcna.ca , and is a founder of the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, www.binm.org. In terms of other organizations Dr. McKinney is involved with, he is also a member of the Oncology Academy of Naturopathic Physicians, which is a medical speciality society of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Currently, Dr. McKinney is a Professor of Naturopathic Oncology, and the author of textbooks on Naturopathic Care in Oncology; three books he has written include Naturally There’s Hope, Naturally There’s Always Hope, and his newest publication released in 2011, Naturopathic Oncology: An Encyclopedic Guide For Patients & Physicians. He also mentors and lectures to doctors internationally, and contributes to publications both for professionals and the public. Dr. McKinney is well known for his generous sharing of time to mentor students and peers. Furthermore, he has also received a number of awards for contributions to advancing the scope and standards of the naturopathic profession. Based in Victoria, B.C., Dr. McKinney continues to practice with a focus on integrative oncology.
